The Model: Evaluate

Here are some questions to ask when planning the evaluation of completed work.

  • What is the plan for iteration based on the results of evaluation?
  • Is the work broken down into testable pieces for evaluation?
  • What type of evaluation is needed?
  • Who is the audience that the work will be evaluated with?
  • How will changes be documented, and what success criteria will be used to measure updates or changes?

Digging Deeper

Part of the iterative process of creating new solutions or improving existing solutions is evaluating how well they accomplish the desired goal. Evaluating a solution can be done in part or in whole, but should be done with a human to determine the effect of the solution and measure how well the intended task(s) can be accomplished.

The intention with evaluation is to evaluate the solution, not the human. Does the solution deliver its promise? Does the solution perform as desired? Do the humans who are affected by the solution derive the value promised by the proposed outcomes?
